The "N" feeling

No, this isn't the name of a new silly campaign from Nintendo. It's something far more important than that, the magical feeling you get from certain Nintendo games. A feeling that is unique to Nintendo, or should I at least say video games.... The kind of feeling that puts you in a sort of childish ecstasy that holds on to you and never lets go until you've bought and successfully completed the game.

I came to think of this just recently when I and a buddy walked down to our local videogame shop on a lunch break, and saw Rare's new stunner Jet Force Gemini. We stood there and played for half an hour and when we had to get back to school, all we could talk about was Jet Force Gemini. We discussed all the weapons that we'd seen and all the enemies we had encountered. Discussing is really an understatement, we were IN the world of Jet Force Gemini that day, without taking our minds off the game at any time... the very next day my friend got his copy of the game, while I in fear that I'd screw up on the Chemistry if I got the game, waited until after the weekend. At least once or twice a day I called my friend to check up on his progress on the game...

The same thing was for Zelda 64 when it came out... I had to wait for nearly a month after it had been released, before I could play it. I can tell you there wasn't one day that I didn't talk about the game with my friends (this is no understatement, I was that obsesses ^_^).

This feeling of complete and utter devotion to a game only comes when you play Nintendo games. For some strange reason I've never felt the same way when playing PC games like, Red Alert, StarCraft or Doom 2. These PC games are great, nevertheless it isn't quite the same. It's really hard to explain and I'm sure you felt it too, so I won't try anymore...
