There are bigger things people want to know. Looking at the Final Fantasy IV differences guide, and my FF3 and FF6 article, one thing that almost everyone has as a priority is the things you use. What are the names of the spells? Character classes? and NPCs? This list will slightly differ from my walkthrough. That's because Some of these classes must be translated by knowledge of Kanji. (Meaning you have to know each Kanji's meaning, and then make them a word.) Conjurer is the same as a Magic User in my walkthrough, I just think Conjurer fits a little better.
Some, however, did get an unfortunate name change.
Looking at the two, even someone who doesn't know Japanese can see the similarity here is that four letter-type things are in both images. But one who knows Kana structure notices that the Japanese version has four Kana, and would be Romanized (put into letters) with 8 letters. One who knows the Kana as well (specifically Katakana in this case) knows that "ma" and "ka" do not sound the same. What does that mean? After awhile, you're going to notice that, well, "Kary" is an incorrect translation! Her name is actually Marilith (and I'll get into more things concerning that later.) Final Fantasy's Impact (Contains Spoilers) Final Fantasy is known for not having any relationship to it's previous or succeeding games, but in actuality, it does. Especially with Final Fantasy IX. But, let's start from the beginning. In Final Fantasy II, the character Frioneal was almost an exact copy of the Warrior class. In FF3, there were two loopy characters name Doga and Unne. Either way, Une and Une are the same, Unne and Unne are the same. Unne in FF3 was a detective, he was a scholar in FF1. They also searched for Crystals and had character classes. In FF4, they had Crystals and classes, but no system like in FF3. One thing we missed in FF4 was that the Crystals had names (i.e. Cecil invaded Misidia searching for the Water Crystal I think, because Toroia had the Wind Crystal to my memory), and there was a dark Crystal. FF5 had only four Crystals but had job systems. FF9 was highly related to FF1. You can find out most of the similarities at FF Compendium, and my site, Impetinent Fools. Some obvious examples are the four Chaoses along with Cornelia (Corneria), the Black Mage and the White Mage's uniform (which Garnet wore to escape Alexandria, it was blatantly obvious she was the White Mage, but she actually was supposed to be more of a summoner and Eiko is the White Mage). Of course, there was a villain named Garland, Garnet was supposedly named Sara (there was a princess in FF3 named Sara also, from the first continent in the game) in Madain Sari, and had a mother named Jane. Jane was the name of the queen of Corneria. Masamune appears in some of the games, and most of the spell names remain the same. And the final difference-- they're called Final Fantasy, along with this game. This is what Final Fantasy is in the world today. English
