Foundation Games
By: Travis Sparks

I have what I call, Foundation Games they include Zeldas 1-5 and both StarFox games. It started winter '88 I was only 4 years old my family was given a Nintendo for a Christmas present from my grandpa. I had played it over at his house before and he bought one for us all to share. I turned it on to play Zelda 1 for the first time in my life, I remember the moment exactly the music did something to me it put me in a state of calm and tranquility it was so powerful and yet so calming the game was perfect I fell in love instantly, later I played Zelda 2 and it was great, to this day I have yet to beat it, partially because now with the age of my system I can hardly turn it on.Later my family got an SNES as an out of the blue gift.At the time I was into pretending to be someone else literally,(I was only 8 years old) I didn't respond to my real name but when I saw that SNES I came back to reality.
One of the first games I played was A Link to the Past when I saw the rain in it I was changed.Later at a video store I played StarFox for the first time and even though it was just for a few minutes I knew I would have it,someday.A year later I got a Super Gameboy and Link's Awakening, the opening cinema seen was so wonderful and The ballad of the Wind Fish song in it's entirety put me in a state of sorrow, happiness, and tranquility.About 3 years later I played StarFox 64 and desperately wanted it along with an N64 because I didn't have one at the time it was then I began a mad quest searching for a copy of StarFox for the SNES I called all the stores in my area even some out-of-state. Then I started searching pawn shops and after weeks of searching I got an e-mail from someone who knew where to get it, but I had to get it before him because he wanted it too. I got it first and then for Christmas I got an N64 and StarFox 64 I loved them both. Then I got a subscription to Nintendo Power and started learning of Zelda 64 I looked at all of the screenshots I could and then when a concrete date was made to release it, I told my mom to reserve a copy because I wanted it for Christmas, come Christmas I got it and ever since I heard the opening music I've been hooked.
So basically ever since I first heard the opening music to Zelda 1 I've sworn loyalty to Nintendo and always will be loyal through thick and through thin. Nintendo is my life. My life is Nintendo, and the 7 Foundation Games. May Nintendo lead the way. Amen.
