Mega Man Will Always
Have a Place At Nintendo
By: Kakkorroto
I know what you're thinking now.
You're thinking Mega Man's not a Nintendo character, he's on Playstation!
I hear this all the time and it never ceases to make my blood boil.
Say what you wish, prepare to hear the opinion of a true Mega Man Monarch.
But first, in case you're wondering, we MegaMonarchs as we call are
selves, are basically. We know EVERYTHING MM(Mega Man) related. For
instance, did you know Mega Man had 6 sequels on the NES? That's twice
as much as Mario had. This brings up only a fraction of my argument.
Technically, Mega Man is owned by Capcom, making him a universal character.
But where did the MM Legacy begin?
Over a decade ago in 1987 on a cold winter night, a game for the NES
hit the stores. It was titled "Mega Man". It featured a small
blue robot fighting a mad-scientist bent on world domination named Dr.
Wily. The game was great. It involved new styles of gameplay which allowed
players to play the 6 s A bit later, Mega Man 2 reached the US and later
followed by MM 3, MM 4, MM 5, and MM 6. All Nintendo games! This is
why Mega Man can be compared to Mario with ease. Also like Mario, Mega
Man had a TV show, which as you might suspect, sucked. Not a single
thing was right and that is why I'm moving past it.
With the new SNES out, Capcom made the leap
to the new system with "Mega Man X". The game took place around
100 years (in my opinion) after the original series. It invloved the
last of Dr. Light's(MM's creator)creations, a robot with emotions called
a reploid! The story is too long to go into now. The fanfic "An
Uncertain Future" covers the whole game.
Following MMX, Capcom released X2, X3, and MM 7 for SNES. It was sometime
around this period that Capcom made a move that started this whole argument:
They went to the Playstation. Well come on, after 10 Nintendo games
you can't call him a PSX (Some think that it would be a good idea to
give the Blue Bomber a Nintedo Land subsite. I am one of them. But what
would the childish and Immature do if it became a subsite? Why, they'd
go the the Nintendo Land Main forum and bicker, "Playstation that!"
and "Playstation this!" Blah blah blah blah blah! I have one
thing to say, he was on Genesis and PCs and Japanese arcades too. If
you dare denounce MM then you better do all you can to win a poinless
argument. MM X5 is too be released in January for PSX, so? It's for
PSX, does that tarnish his name? because Capcom put data on a million
little discs to be selled in stores and Now let's look at it another
way. 3 games are being created for, what's that? Nintendo Systems! MM
64 is basically Legends and two others are handheld players. Whoopedee
doo! MM returns to his birthgplace.
Though Mega Man did spread to other systems,
we must never forget his humble beginnings as a Nintendo character.
I don't expect everyone to see my way. After all, I'm only a crazy MMFreak.
I know I have to conclude this sometime so here I go. Mega Man went
PSX. Does that concern his birthplace? It's like calling Lora Croft
a Nintendo character because she had a Game Boy game. Is this any different
for Mega Man. Never in a million years. You can take the character out
of Nintendo, but you can't take the Nintendo out of the character.
