NES nostalgia vs. fancy graphics

I don't really get why everyone thinks Zelda 64 is so much better
than Zelda 1 on the NES. Sure, Zelda 64 has much better graphics,
but what is it other than a pretty rendition of Zelda 1 ?They change
the view, you get some more items, and the characters talk to you
more. But what does that leave you with? Absolutely nothing. I finished
Zelda 64 on my own without a strategy guide or internet help in a
little more than a month. I've had my NES and my zelda games since
I was 5 or 6 and I still haven't finished Zelda! The fact that the
replay value of Zelda 64 is virually nothing doesn't help its case
much. In NES Zelda, there are 2 quests, the second completely randomized.
The facts that you arent given much help aside from poorly translated
"hints" (The secret is on the eastmost penninsula, Dodongo
doesn't like smoke) and that your shield is practically useless againts
enemies makes Zelda 1 a helluva lot more playable than Any new zelda
game. That damn owl in the GBC version and Navi tell you how to complete
the entire game. What did Nintendo figure, that their games were too
hard for us? I hate when people think like that.
