Pokémon, why you just have to play it!

Just a couple of weeks ago, Pokémon was just another crazy game released for the Game Boy. I couldn't understand the enormous hype in Japan and now recently in USA. What was so great about that game? Running around and battling enemies in dull battles all the time, and the graphics was not very good either. And what's up with that Pikachu? I hated him, what was he? An overgrown squirrel who'd eaten too many batteries, or what!?
Then one foggy Christmas Eve, Santa gave me this reddish Game Boy cart with big yellow letters spelling our "Pokémon", on the front. I plugged it into my Game Boy and pressed the start button. After a small animated fight between two Pokémon I choose "new game" and soon I woke up in my bed as Ash. As soon as I got my first Pokémon (Tortoise, of course!) I was hooked. At first I loved my precious Turtoise above everything else but when I got further into my adventure, the game expanded and I immediately fell for the urge to "catch them all!". 4 days and 10 batteries later, I'm building up a team consisting of; An electric Voltorb, a Gloom, a Fearow, my faithful Blastoise and last but not least my two favorites my rockin' Graveller and my powerful Dugtrio; all of which I have grown deeply affected too. It's a joy to see them evolve and learn new abilities. Although I still can't put my finger on what really makes this game so good, but I don't really care cause I've been playing Pokémon constantly for the past 4 days and I'm definitely going to stop now.

Note for all Pikachu lovers out there: I still hate that little squirrel, my Voltorb is much, much better!
