What ever happened to the Bounty hunter?

I remember a long long time ago......(must have been a whole 3 years or so...)....there was a Nintendo character jumping about on the TV screen, skillfully blasting aliens. That was Samus Aran.
My cousin was playing the SNES,and the cartridge that was inserted in it was Super Metroid,The best game(besides Chrono Trigger)to ever be realeased on the SNES.
Samus was never a very popular character.....But she was still remembered around the world by gamers. At least then she had some popularity.....
But now look at the world.....nothing but Link and Pikachu! "Link is so cool" and "Pikachu is the best!( although I still don't understand how a little yellow mouse could produce so much electricity out of it's cheeks; thats boilogically impossible....)" are all I ever hear!
Whatever happened to Samus Aran? It appears that all the other Nintendo characters have been wiped off the face(and memory)of the world.
Whatever happened to REAL characters that got into REAL danger? C'mon,Pikachu has Ash and a whole other group of pokemon to help him, and Link has the Mastersword and a huge array of magical spells, along with the Triforce... While Samus is stuck with her siut,a gun,and her wits; and not to mention going deep into the depths of an alien world, facing hordes of aliens and mechanical monstrosities.(And not to mention that Pikachu and Link had help from a lot of other characters....)
I just felt like voicing my opinion on the Pikachu/Link craze, and taking my time to remember my favorite Nintendo character:Samus Aran.
