The War

Everywhere I go, there's at least one person that's obsesced with Pokemon. It's always "Pika pika!" or "I choose you, Pikachu!". It's all part of everyday life. But now, in these times, a new craze has invaded us: Digimon. Aired on Fox Kids/Family, this show has its own humongous share of fans. Why? Many reasons. Some people liked it, and took it in along with Pokemon as an equal. Others had a similar effect, only they liked Digimon more, like me. Others took it in, but Pokemon remained as #1 for them. Some people took it in, but totally dumped Pokemon. Others didn't care about it. Others loved it so much, they dispised Pokemon. And the worst of them all, many never took it in, and hated it, thinking of it as a Pokemon rip-off, and this started at first because of the name, mainly because they both end with 'mon'. I've seen those people a lot of times. People who started a war against a magnificent piece of Anime. The Digi-fans didn't do anything to the Poke-fans, yet the Poke-fans make fun of those that love Digimon, again like me. You always hear "If you like Digimon, you suck!" or "Down with that Pokemon rip-off named Digimon!". I thought the same at first, yet I liked it. Then I found out something that made me change my mind: Digimon came first. When everyone heard about it, they all thought Pokemon was actually the rip-off, between them me. Don't get me wrong, though. I never stopped liking Pokemon. Then I found out it was the Giga-pet that came in 1991 in Japan. Pokemon and the games and stuff appeared in 1995. I found out the Anime came after Pokemon. But the actual term of Digimon was made before anything that had to do with Pokemon, it was just transfered from the Giga-pet characters and added into the Anime. You could say that the show was based on it. The term of Pokemon wasn't really based on anything to my knowledge (except the Anime; it was based on the game). But the one thing we all have to know is that Digimon is actually a misunderstood Anime. Sure Pokemon and Digimon have the same word at the end of the name, they both have to do with monsters of some kind, the monsters e(Digi)volve, and the monsters have powers. But the truth is, they're both really different. Now this creates another question: Is Pokemon a creator or an imitator? Here's a list of their differences and flaws that I found on a site:

Digimon:
Not-so-bright colors that give it a realistic touch; some amazing 3D animation
Well developed characters with realistic personalities (except their arms and legs)
Great antagonists (example: Myotismon)
Monsters can talk and have their own free personalities (example: Gabumon)
Plot is about saving two worlds
Doesn't have (or needs) lots of comic relief (has only a little)
Non-made up names; nicknames (example: Tai. Real name's Taichi)

Pokemon:
Very bright non-realistic colors
Characters with personalities that are pretty much made up (example: Ash)
Antagonists that aren't very stable (example: Team Rocket. Except Mewtwo; he's the bomb!)
Monsters don't have much free will or true personalities (except Ash's Pokemon, like Pikachu)
Plot is about a boy going on a quest to achieve a life-long dream
Has (and sometimes exaggerates) tons of comic relief (jokes, bad puns every 3 mins., etc.)
Names that are made up for the American version (example: Misty. Real name's Kasumi)

Now this is just a list of the differences between these two pieces of Anime. This doesn't mean I'm going against Pokemon. I still like it (along with the games), but I'm just saying all this so people'll hopefully'll realize that neither one's a rip-off of the other; simply because these two are completely different from each other. This war MUST stop! I hope that in the future, both Digi-fans and Poke-fans will get along with each other, and live perfectly in harmony, simply because this has all gotten too far. I've even heard an article writter in here saying that Pokemon should have a war against Digimon! Is it just me, or do these people want more turbulence going on in here? Think about it: Do you really want this? I mean, what did they ever do to you? It's just not rational... anyway, this has to stop ASAP! Welp, this was my first try at an article, and I hope we'll all get along someday. This is it! Bye!
