How
old is this dino?

24, 50, 100?
So, most
people know this plucky character and know that he is quite young
looking, but how old is this dino? Really, we know a lot of the Mario
world, about his enemies, friends and travels, but the only thing
the we don't know is how old Yoshi really is.
Well, let's back track shall we? He's been around for a while. He
helped out Mario when he needed help in Super Mario World. And he
did a good job
too. He has to be young, or very fit because he manages to leap, fly,
swim and breath fire with the greatest of ease. That's pretty tough
when you have
this 100 pound plus plumber on your back from time to time. Also,
he can whip out his tongue with lightening quick speed and I doubt
a Yoshi in a
geriatrics could do that.
In Super Mario World 2, Mario was just a baby, so this can set back
Yoshi's present age substantially. He was still agile as ever but
he had his Yoshi
friends to lend a "hand." Yoshi has a more talented skill,
throwing eggs. He must have the arm of a major league pitcher to throw
like that, and with
such accuracy too. He can also fly for a short distance. That really
doesn't change anything but it still shows what he could do. The plot
dose thicken
indeed.
Yoshi's Cookie was yet another game and the final in the analysis.
In the game, Yoshi just sits there and barley dose anything at all.
He observes you
movie cookies around to match them up and then adds more. The agile,
young Yoshi we once knew is gone and old age is finally setting in.
So, it's time to set the timeline. SMW2 comes first, then SMW and
finally Yoshi's Cookie. This can sort of set when Yoshi started to
feel old. Well,
now. Yoshi seemed to have lost his agility and flexibility when he
gets older and that's to be expected when getting older. He has become
this sluggish
lizard with no spring in his step.
What if Yoshi didn't age? He just gets tired of doing the same parts
over and over and putting him in Yoshi's Cookie just made him feel
old therefore
he acted it. In SMW he was fresh and new. He picked up his first job
and he was ready to do his stuff. When SMW2 came along, he was ecstatic
when
he received a lead role. Then, Yoshi's Cookie came. He felt used,
worn and OLD. Feeling that he couldn't cut it anymore, he just gave
up the happy
attitude.
Whatever age Yoshi is, it doesn't make a difference. He still brightens
our day when we see him gobble that goomba in one *slurp* and I doubt
he
would want to hear how old he is because he has immortalized him self
in gaming history, and you can't take that away from him.
