"Zelda games? How unoriginal!!!" I used to
utter those words, near the time of the release of Zelda64 I thought
of Zelda games as a waste of a gamer's time. I said things like: "All
you do is save a princess and then defeat the dude who took her, boring!!!!"
or "Look at his haircut, it makes him look like some kind of
Hanson-Elf!!" etc.
Over time however, I grew drawn towards Zelda
games, when I played Super Smash Bros. with my cousins I would always
want to play at Hyrule Castle and I would sometimes play as Link.
Finally, when my birthday came, I got to choose any Gameboy game I
wanted, at the time all I had was a Gameboy Color, Pokemon Red and
Conker's Pocket Tale's. I thought about it hard and I finally chose,
you guessed it, Zelda DX. After reading the instruction booklet, I
set to playing.
When I saw the opening sequence the first
time I was amazed, the music totally fitted in with the action happening
on the screen, sometimes I would just sit there and hum with the opening
tune...To this day I still play the game, trying to get the Instruments
of The Sirens' and awakening the Wind Fish, for I no longer just control
Link, I actually am Link.
