Majora's Mask VS. Ganondorf
The
Nintendoland Deathmatch Stadium. Over the past months, this wondrous
arena has been the site of many, many battles. Among them were Link
against Mario, battle between two of the greatest heroes of the
age, and KoopaTroopa against Goomba, battle of the underdogs. However,
nothing could have prepared the loyal Nintendo fans, who had crowded
into the veritable coliseum by the tens of thousands, for the battle
which was about to begin. The stadium had been modified into a coliseum
so that the spectators could see the sky, where a sinister moon
hung. Several nervous people and beasts chattered excitedly at the
moon's large, toothy grin. Up in the hosting box, a door opened,
and cheers exploded from the crowd as the Super Mario Brothers entered
the highest point in the stadium. Luigi couldn't help but grin,
but Mario, who was used to such attention, only took his seat, grabbing
his microphone. Luigi, snapping to attention after getting over
his slowly swelling head, followed suit by taking his seat to his
elder brother's right.
Mario and Luigi: Good afternoon, ladies and gents, and welcome to
the stadium!
The brothers let the cheers (and jeers, from the Koopa crowd) subside
before continuing.
Mario: Today, we have a match of two of the greatest evils to ever
plague the Nintendo realm!
Again, there were cheers, but they were noticeably less enthusiastic.
Luigi, with a note of sarcasm: Glad to see that you're all so excited.
Now, what say we get on to the fight?
Luigi's spirits were lifted a little as the cries and cheers erupted
from the crowd with such force that the stadium itself shook.
Mario: Now, to introduce player one! You know him from his attempts
to conquer the land of Hyrule! Yes, ladies and gents, it's the King
of Evil himself, Ganondorf!
All fell silent as one of the gates rose up, and Ganondorf stepped
forward from the darkness. His orange eyes and their red pupils
glowed softly as he entered the arena, fingering a massive sword
sheathed on his belt's left side. Then, in an uncharacteristic,
wrestling-like move, he raised his arms to the sky as the crowd,
evil or those who just like the evil king, exploded into a round
of applause and cheers. Mario and Luigi exchanged nervous glances
as the king lowered his hands, a wicked grin spreading across his
face.
Ganondorf: Bring the pathetic fool who would challenge the King
of Evil...
These words were very quiet, but the silence of the fans when they
realized that he was about to speak allowed him to be heard, even
in the announcer's box, just before Luigi continued.
Luigi: Uhhh...okay... Player two is less known, but no less feared
by those who have seen him, than Ganondorf. Responsible for the
ruin of thousands of lives and the falling of the moon...
All looked up at the sinister moon, which indeed seemed to be falling...
Luigi: Let's hear a round of applause for the feared Majora's Mask!
However, when the gates opened and Majora's Mask came from the shadows,
there was little to no applause at all, probably due to the fact
that next to no one had ever seen him or his fighting style...if
you could call Majora a "he." The mask seemed to be nothing
more than that: A floating mask, made up of a rainbow of swirled
colors and two large, yellow eyes. Ganondorf raised his left eyebrow
at the set of spikes that were on the rim of the mask, and they
seemed to be waving back and forth, very slowly. To the surprise
of all, Ganondorf especially, the mask spoke with a voice that echoed
off of the very walls of the coliseum.
Majora: You are the fool, to think that you could POSSIBLY overcome
my power.
Absolute silence floods through the stands and announcer's box as
this sinks in, but Ganondorf waves it aside, grinning maliciously.
Ganondorf: Yes, yes, certainly. Whatever you say, "emperor,"
but words will not win you this battle. Talk is cheap...
Mario, Luigi, and all of the spectators, even Bowser, King of the
Koopas, let out a sigh of relief. It had been thought that Ganondorf
would explode in a fit of anger and destroy the entire continent
trying to kill Majora.
Mario: Well, then... Let's see a starting shot!
Ganondorf looked up as a clay pigeon was fired into the air, high
above the battleground, and all held their breath as adult Link
the First appeared to launch a Fire Arrow, causing the pigeon to
explode in midair. Ganondorf looked back at his opponent, who had
begun to spin around like a buzz saw. The big G's jaw dropped as
Majora hurtled into him, shattering a layer of his armor when the
demon flies into him. Ganondorf roared in sheer agony before falling
to his knees as the spinning menace flew by, stopped spinning, and
righted itself, floating around.
Majora: As you can see, you have no hope of winning.
Ganondorf's eyes blazed as he clenched his fist and leapt into the
air, where he too hovered. He held his right hand in the air above
him, and energy crackled as a ball of pure, pulsating, evil energy
formed. He hurled it with a grunt, and his scowl grew wider as Majora
simply hovered out of the way.
Majora: Pathetic! How do you expect to win when you fight like that?
Ganondorf: Think before you speak, upstart weakling!
With that, Ganondorf unleashed another burst of electric evil, and
this one was fired so unexpectedly that Majora did not have time
to dodge. When the attack hit, it exploded in a burst of light,
and Ganondorf grinned as Majora dropped with a screech of agony.
Ganondorf, not knowing that he had to kick the mask while it was
down, waited until it rose into the air again, with little to no
damage on it. However, it saw Ganondorf for the danger that he was,
and wasted no more time: he had to kill the Evil King before it
happened the other way around. Tendrils that seemed to rest at the
bottom spread around the mask, and energy gathered with a very high-pitched
whine. Ganondorf, not knowing what to expect, simply waited, not
even bothering to brace himself for the attack.
Luigi: Is that wise, Mario?
Mario: Is what wise?
Luigi: Well, I've played through The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask,
and I know for a fact that this is going to hurt...
Luigi had never said anything more true in his life. If the mask
had a mouth, it would have smiled as the energy stopped gathering.
It proceeded to fire a massive amount of energy in the form of a
"beam" of fire. Ganondorf's eyes widened before the attack
hit him, and his cries of pain echoed throughout the arena as his
armor and cape were set on fire. Majora had just hit him with enough
power to level a forest, and it showed as the sand beneath Ganondorf
was turned into muddy glass. Ganondorf, after catching his breath,
leapt into the air, and threw out his arms, dispelling the fire
and throwing aside the pain. Ganondorf's mind was racing, wondering
why he hadn't been able to hurt Majora... However, he did not have
time to think. The mask had already begun to gather energy again.
Ganondorf grinned. This time, he was ready.
Mario: That grin doesn't bode well....
These guys are on a roll, aren't they? Anyway, he was once again
right. As the fire beam was launched again, Ganondorf put up his
hands, palms forward, and when the beam hit him, it was reflected
at an angle that made it splash harmlessly on the wall. Fire spread
across the rims of the arena, and when the beam stopped firing,
Ganondorf put down his hands, confident that he would see a shocked
Majora before him...Well, this is sort of what happened. What he
saw was Majora, but not in the position that he had expected. Majora
was again performing his dreaded buzz saw technique. Instinctively,
Ganondorf drew his massive broadsword, easily as long as he was
tall, and brought it down on the "face" of the mask, which
was unprotected by the spikes around the edges. Throwing a hefty
amount of force behind the blow, he drove the mask to the ground
with relative ease, and there it lay, stunned.
Ganondorf: You're not getting up THIS time!
Ganondorf raised his massive sword above his head, and the entire
crowd held its breath for what was sure to be the end of the battle...
Mario: Here it comes! Here it comes!
Ganondorf brought down the blade with such force that it drove itself
through the face of the mask. The Evil King grinned, drawing his
sword from the face of the mask and turned to silent members of
the audience, who were shocked by how quickly that had ended.
Ganondorf: See? He really didn't have the ability to defeat me...
Then, from up in the crowd, a woman screamed, and several persons'
attention were drawn to what should have been an inanimate object
behind the Lord of Darkness.
Dr. Wily: What the heck is that?!
Ganondorf spun on his heel to see the mask floating above the ground,
and it was on fire. The flames seemed to die as the Mask righted
itself in front of Ganondorf, where it hovered, shuddering violently.
Then, with a little "pop," a leg popped out of the mask's
lower left side. Then an arm from its upper right. Then another
leg, and another arm... Ganondorf opened one eye very wide and seemed
to squint with his other as a head of sorts popped from the top
of the mask. Actually, the head was no more than a single, large
eye on a stalk. The beast's limbs appeared to be made up of a fiber
the same color as the mask itself; all the colors of the rainbow
mixed together in a pattern that somewhat resembled muscular tissue
and vascular system.
Luigi: I believe that I'm going to be sick. That's the most disgusting
thing I've seen in a while.
Mario: You're not kidding... Ladies and gentlemen, Majora's Mask
has just transformed into Majora's Incarnation!
Majora's Incarnation jumped back and forth, squeaking, before launching
into dance. Ganondorf cried out as Majora's Incarnation slammed
into him with a high-speed pirouette, knocking Ganondorf to the
ground. Ganondorf leapt to his feet, and fired off a burst of evil
magic, only to see it miss by a mile.
Ganondorf, thinking: Curse him, he's too fast to hit!
Majora's Incarnation stopped in front of him, and spoke for the
first and last time in this form.
MI: YOU AIN'T JUST WHISTLIN' DIXIE!
Ganondorf took a swing at his opponent, only to miss as the tricky
devil went into a a Trapeck, going under the punch and kicking Ganondorf
hard in the gut. Ganondorf doubled over before he was kicked onto
his back and stomped on as Incarnation passes by. Ganondorf shakes
his head free of cobwebs before launching himself into the air and
watching this pathetic excuse for a villain perform the Moonwalk.
Ganondorf: Let's see... What do I have that can hit something that
jumps around like that? Oh, silly ME...
Ganondorf clenched his fist, which erupted with the same golden
energy as his light burst, and yelled in rage as he punched the
ground with such strength that it sent shockwaves of force rippling
along the ground. The effects of the attack were satisfactory in
Ganondorf's eyes, horrifying if you asked Incarnation. It knocked
the demon forward, onto his stomach, and he seemed to try to be
crawling away as Ganondorf rose into the air again. He raised his
left hand into the air, palm facing up, and another bolt of energy
formed. He hurled it, confident that it would hit... Unfortunately,
Incarnation had gotten to his feet, and was running around again.
Ganondorf was about to prepare for another Earthquake Punch, when
Incarnation stopped to fire off a flurry of energy bursts. Ganondorf
looks up from charging his energy.
Ganondorf: Oh, not again...
He cried out in sheer agony as he was blasted out of the air by
dozens upon dozens of energy blasts, sending him careening into
the far end of the ring.
Luigi: Ooh, that has got to hurt!
Mario: This is turning out to be much better than anticipated, isn't
it?
Luigi: I have to agree.
As Ganondorf slowly got to his feet and rose into the air, his cape
tattered and torn as a sign of damage, he did something he should
have done a long time ago. Incarnation was once again performing
a graceful pirouette, giving Ganondorf the perfect chance to strike.
He raised both hands into the air, summoning massive amounts of
dark energies. A black hole of sorts forms above his head, and orbs
of light are summoned from empty space to gather within the hole,
making it shine with a blinding light, and he grinned.
Mario: Holy cow! It's the Black Hole attack! Brace yourselves, folks!
Ganondorf yelled in triumph as he unleashed the attack, and the
massive energy gathering separated into six or seven separate bursts,
which chased Incarnation as he ran aimlessly around the arena. The
eyes of Ganondorf and the spectators darted around the ring as Incarnation
tried to get away....to no avail. When the first burst hit, it exploded,
and he was knocked onto his stomach, screaming in agony as light
radiated off of his entire body. Then, another hit, and he was back
on his feet, clutching his head and screaming ever louder. The audience
covered its collective ears as the other five bursts hit, and Majora
began to flail his arms wildly. Suddenly, he stopped, and stood
still, except that his entire body was pulsating. One could hear
the blood and juices flowing through him as his muscle mass expanded,
making him at least as buff as the King of Evil. Then, flesh gathered
and shot up the stalk of the eye, and swirled around it, forming
an actual head with a mouth and completed by two red horns on the
top of its head. This new horror emitted a low growl as it crossed
its arms in front of its chest, then threw them out, sprouting large
tentacles which resembled whips. The crowd and announcers fell silent
as the new entity screeched, a very high-pitched, grating sound.
As Mario, who had never seen anything like this, picked his jaw
up off the ground, Luigi gripped his microphone so hard that his
knuckled were white.
Luigi: Ladies and gentlemen, it would appear that Majora has transformed
into his final and ultimate form: Majora's Wrath! This spells trouble
for Ganondorf, folks!
Luigi quickly shut up as Ganondorf shot him a piercing glare, but
Ganondorf was not foolish enough to look away from THIS enemy for
long. He turned back and rose into the air, preparing to fire another
energy burst, but he was cut off in the middle of his charging.
Majora, sensing what was about to happen, lashed out with one of
his tentacles, which wrapped around Ganondorf's wrist from over
fifty feet away, and swung around the evil king to slam him into
a wall. Rock gave way and the wall exploded as the tentacle released
its hold and retracted, and Ganondorf arose from the dust, apparently
injured, but not about to show it.
Ganondorf: Oh, come now! If you cannot do any better than that,
it is best that I finish you now!
With that, he drew his tremendous sword again, and soared through
the air to turn Majora into julienne fries. Once again, his attack
was cut short by Majora's tentacles, one of which wrapped around
the blade of his sword, yanked it out of his hands, and hurled it
through the air, right at the announcer's box.
Mario: Hit the deck!
Mario and Luigi both got down on the floor as the sword, which was
bigger than both of them, crashed through the window, littering
the entire room with shattered glass. Mario and Luigi both slowly
looked over their chairs, now wearing hard-hats, and exchanged nervous
glances before rising to take their seats and continue watching
the fight. Below, the battle had turned in heavy favor of Majora's
Wrath. He was whipping Ganondorf with such force that the King of
Evil couldn't stay in the air, fell to a kneeling position and was
being killed while on his knees. on his knees. Majora laughed maniacally
before one of the tentacles wrapped around Ganondorf's neck. Ganondorf,
realizing what was about to happen, cried out in terror before the
tentacle constricted, cutting off his air and allowing Majora to
begin slinging him around. Ganondorf's cape detached as Majora swung
him around in a very wide arc, faster and faster and faster! Ganondorf's
eyes rolled into the back of his head just as he was about to black
out, but this never happened, because Majora suddenly let go. Ganondorf
went flying at hundreds of miles per hour before crashing into a
wall of the arena, shattering solid stone, destroying part of the
stands, burying him under rubble and unlucky spectators. People
panicked, and those who could unearth themselves ran for the rapidly
opening gates. Majora paid them no attention, only concentrating
on the pile of rubble under which Ganondorf resided. Mario and Luigi
seemed to agree upon something before taking the mikes again.
Mario: Well, ladies and gents, it would appear that Ganondorf has
been de-
He was cut off as the entire arena quaked with a very low rumbling.
All was silent for a moment except for the crash of the closing
gates, even Majora's Wrath. The tense moment was shattered as the
rubble exploded, and Ganondorf rose from it, his eyes blazing with
rage. He held up his left hand, and three golden triangle appeared
on his hand, the top one shining. The Triforce of Power shined as
Ganondorf spread out his limbs, screaming with sheer rage as he
body was washed over with a bright, blue light. Majora staggered
backwards, shocked as Ganondorf fell with a tremendous crash, landing
on his feet, which had transformed into massive hoof. As he straightened,
tremendous horns grew from his head, and when he truly stood up,
Ganondorf, the King of Evil, had transformed into Ganon, the mightiest
beast to haunt the sands of time. Ganon roared, a tremendous trident
forming in his hand, and he hurled it at Majora. Majora, showing
more agility and speed than anything Ganon had ever seen, leaped
high into the air, soaring over the trident. Ganon calculated exactly
where Majora's Wrath would land, and hurled his trident just in
time to pin the demon against a wall. Ganon drew another trident,
planning to impale the enemy, but it was whipped out of his hand
by Majora's tentacles.
Luigi: Folks, this is incredible! Both competitors have reached
their final form! This is going to be the final showdown!
Majora reached down with one hand, grabbed the trident by the hilt,
and pulled it out of the wall before flinging both away, after which
they bounced off of Bowser's shell. Majora lashed out with both
tentacles, almost grinning as they wrapped around Ganon's wrist.
This seemed to be it! Majora had him! However, this thought was
dismissed as Ganon gave the tentacles a good yank, and Majora's
eyes went wide as it was pulled off of its feet and towards Ganon,
eventually smashing his head against the King of Evil's with a satisfying
CRACK! Majora fell onto his back, and Ganon formed one of his tremendous
sword, which was as big as Majora himself. He raised it high above
his head, and lightning seemed to dance around the moon's eyes.
Ganon seemed to grin as he brought down the massive blade, and Majora
reacted as best he could; he stopped the sword by putting his hands
up to the flat sides of the blade, pouring every ounce of strength
he had into keeping from being cleaved in half. Ganon's wicked smile
grew wider as he slowly overpowered his soon-to-be victim... Majora
lashed out, kicking Ganon hard on the chin, making the evil king
lose his grip on the sword before tossing it aside and leaping to
his feet. He wrapped his fingers around Ganon's horns, and, with
a heave, tossed the beast high into the air. Mario and Luigi watched
Ganon fly a good 200 feet straight up...
Mario: That was one heck of a toss...
Luigi: No kidding...
Majora panted as Ganon soared, too exhausted with the effort of
hurling the evil king into the air to pay attention as the embodiment
of horror crashed into the ground rather noisily. Majora got up
as he heard what sounded like thunder from behind him, and slowly
turned...to see Ganon charging, head down. Majora roared in agony
as Ganon hit him going over fifty miles per hour, charging until
he smashed Majora through a wall, then backing up, and beginning
to beat the demon with his fists. Majora flails his limbs for a
few seconds, but a punch to the gut knocks the wind from his, and
he falls limp in the shadows...however, most of the spectators are
no longer watching the battle. They are watching the moon, now only
a few hundred meters above the ground.
Bowser: HOLY COW!
Sigma: LOOK AT THAT!
Ganon stopped beating on Majora long enough to step back out of
the shadows and looked up. When he saw the moon, hovering high above
him, his mind raced. The moon was going to crash, and soon. When
it did, it would destroy most of the world, including Hyrule...
Ganon roared in frustration. He was torn between defeating his opponent
to prove his superiority, and saving the world, thus humiliating
himself but preserving Hyrule, a land which he was destined to conquer.
In a flash of blue light, he had transformed back into Ganondorf,
and was soaring up towards the moon, which loomed menacingly overhead.
Luigi: What is he doing?
Mario: No way... He's going to blow up the moon!
Indeed. Majora got to his feet, bleeding profusely from his numerous
injuries, and emerged from the shadows of the ruined section of
the stadium to look up at the moon and Ganondorf. Ganondorf stopped,
hovering just below the moon's nose, and glared up at it. He balled
up his right fist, which seemed to erupt in a golden light, and
landed a solid punch on the moon's nose. What happened next was
shocking. A shockwave of color moved through the moon, first turning
it blue, then purple, then blood-red, and finally a fiery yellow,
just before it exploded. However, Ganondorf, knowing that this sucker
would go off like an 80 billion-ton nuke, drained the power of the
Triforce of Power into containing the ball of fire so that it didn't
wipe out the entire planet, or even the stadium...but that didn't
stop HIM from getting caught in the explosion. Ganondorf fell to
the Earth as the fire dispersed, his armor charred and broken, his
flesh scorched. When he hit the dirt with a loud thud, he created
a small crater in the shape of his own body, and Phantom Ganon,
one of the judges for this match, ran out into the arena to check
on him. He kneeled over his king, checked his breathing and pulse,
and got to his feet.
Phantom Ganon: He's out cold. Majora wins.
Mario: You heard it, folks! Majora's Wrath wins!
The fans that were left exploded into applause as Majora got to
his feet, not in much better shape than Ganondorf. He looked around
him, and would have grinned if he could have as Phantom Ganon walked
over to him, carrying a medal in his right hand. He shook Majora's
hand, then slipped the medal over his neck.
Phantom Ganon: Wear it with pride...
He turned away, walking over to his boss as Majora showed off his
medal to the crowd and his minions. Majora laughed with pride, but
Phantom Ganon muttered under his breath as he knelt by his king.
PG: You know he cheated, boss... He planned that all out. He couldn't
have lost with that moon up there...
Ganondorf grunted, getting up into a sitting position, shaking the
dizziness from his head.
PG: I wanted to tell you, that was a pretty decent thing you did
up there, with the moon...
Ganondorf's hand reached out, and grabbed the head of his most loyal
servant. Ganondorf growled under his breath as he began to squeeze...
Ganondorf: Never say that the King of Evil does anything "good"...
With that, he crushed Phantom Ganon's skull, and the ghost exploded
in a flash of light with a scream of pain. The King of Evil got
to his feet, and watched Majora. The ancient emperor's back was
to him.
Ganondorf, thinking: Oh, why the heck not?
Ganondorf raised his hand into the air, and electricity crackled
as he summoned another bolt of pure evil energy. Majora, so absorbed
in his victory, doesn't notice, not even when one of his supporters
tries to warn him.
Eyegore: My emperor, behind you!
However, Majora only turned when it was too late. He didn't even
have time to scream, because the bolt was already in his face. It
exploded in his eye with such force that it sent him rocketing backwards
into one of the gates, smashing through the iron grating with a
high-pitched groan of metal. All eyes turned from the shattered
champion to Ganondorf, who's hand was still smoking.
Ganondorf: I'm satisfied...
He spun on his heel, cape flowing behind him, turning his back to
his unconscious opponent. He strolled out of the arena, blasting
the iron gate out of his way with little effot. All grew quiet as
he disappeared into the darkness.
Luigi: Ummm... yeah....
Mario: Well, ladies and gentlemen, this was a highly unexpected
turn of events. Ganondorf, showing a little more honor than expected...
Mario found himself suddenly unconscious as he was hit in the face
with an energy bolt that came out of nowhere. Luigi looked at his
brother before nervously continuing.
Luigi: Well, the King of Evil showed that he had more than enough
power to defeat his opponent, but through a bit of dirty cheating,
Majora took the win before getting the crap blasted out of him!
He looked around nervously, hoping that he wouldn't be blasted out
of him thanks to a little buttering up. Mario slowly got to his
feet, and the end of his moustache was on fire, though neither he
or Luigi noticed.
Mario: Goodnight, folks...
