A huge castle was built north of the city of Toadopolis years ago. Behind these castle walls were servants, castle guards, and the beautiful Princess Plum. But the most important person who lived here was the Great Emperor. He ruled the entire Toadstool Region. The Toads thought of him as a cruel, heartless, and power-hungry emperor, but the old emperor (The Great Emperor's father) had died so it was time for him to take his place. Even though he had control over the land, he was still unhappy.
    "Those Toads need to have more strict laws," he muttered.
    The emperor stared out of the window observing the city of Toadopolis. They were all doing what they usually did. Toads walking home from school, going shopping, and doing other things.
    "What can I do to them?" he wondered, "I know! I'll make them all my slaves!"
    But the emperor knew this wasn't going to be easy. All of the Toads brought strength in numbers and could easily revolt against him and he would lose his title as "The Great Emperor". Just then, he had an idea but he would need help from his wizard assistant, Whizard.
    "Whizard! I want you to make something that will hypnotize those Toads and make them my slaves!" the emperor commanded.
    "I refuse to create such an evil object!" replied Whizard.
    "Then, I shall behead you with my guillotine!" threatened the emperor pointing to the death chamber.
    Whizard reluctantly walked back to his chamber and started to work on it.
    Two weeks later, Whizard returned to the emperor's throne room carrying a silver ring.
    "What is this?" asked the emperor angrily, "I never asked for jewelry!"
    "No your highness," explained Whizard, "This object is called a 'Slave's Bracelet', a ring that will make the one who wears it your slave as long as they are wearing it. I forged it out of the hardest metal and put a hypnotic curse on it."
    But the emperor was still not satisfied.
    "Make more!" he demanded, "I need one for each Toad citizen in the city. And then some more for all of the other cities!"
    "But your majesty!" cried Whizard, "That would take years! It's nearly impossible to do!"
    "Then start now!" the emperor shot back at the wizard.
    Whizard was starting to head back to his chamber when the emperor stopped him.
    "Wait!" called the emperor, "I have an idea! We can put this bracelet on the strongest creature in the world!"
    "Why that your majesty?" asked Whizard.
    "That strongest creature will obey me and will keep those Toads under control!" explained the emperor, "Unfortunately, it will be no easy task."
    The emperor walked into his library and looked into the book, "World's Most Powerful Beings". He turned to page one.
    "Donkey Kong," he read aloud, "This ape is incredibly strong. His bulging muscles prove his incredible strength. His current record of defeating the evil crocodile king, K. Rool, and his evil army of Kremlings. Don't even try taking him to the zoo. This powerful primate packs a punch!"
    "Let's capture him!" said the emperor.
    "But look where he lives," Whizard pointed out.
    Whizard pointed to the statistics on the side of the page. It said that Donkey Kong lived on Donkey Kong Island in the Congo Jungle. Donkey Kong Island was extremely far away and it would take weeks for them to reach it.
    "Let's turn to page two," said the emperor flipping the page.
    The emperor read it aloud.
    "Bowser," he read, "This monstrous turtle is the King of Koopas. He has taken over the Mushroom Kingdom countless time. Mario, a plumber who lives in Toad Town, has defeated him each time. However, this Turtle of Terror has super strength. His fiery breath is so hot that even Mario will have a run for his money!"
    "The statistic say that he lives in the Dark World," explained Whizard, "All we have to do is go to the warp zone that leads to the Dark World!"
    "Perfect," smiled the emperor evilly rubbing his hands together, "This gonna be great!"
