Luigi made a call to the local fire department and that night stayed with Peach.
He slept on the couch quietly, every minute falling deeper and deeper asleep.
He began to dream peacefully, dreams that he would never remember later but altogether
they would never trouble his mind the next day. Luigi woke up at around 11:00
a.m., he sat up tilting his head to the side to stretch his neck and wiped his
eyes. He pulled the blankets off of him and tossed them at his feet then slid
off from the couch's cushions and stood himself up. He let the brightness hitting
his face settle down for a moment before he opened his eyes completely. Once his
eyes had adjusted to his surroundings he froze. His mouth half open in awe, his
eyes widened and aware, he looked around slowly and muttered "I don't believe
it."
Luigi had just woken up and found that somehow he had slept through Peach's house
being caught in what seemed like an awful earthquake. Five feet away from him
the floorboards had cracked and broken, splinters dangling from jagged edges of
them. Book cases, shelves, furniture, walls, and even sections of the roof, all
shattered and torn apart by a stupendous force. All that remained whole and upright
was the couch Luigi slept on, a desk next to it and certain things in the kitchen
located on the same side of the house. Luigi walked amongst the rubble beneath
his feet to get a closer look at everything. He examined the ground and the distinct
gap that the supposed quake had left between the house and the dirt outside. Luigi
worried that Peach had somehow been harmed in the event and began calling for
her.
"Peach!"
He looked around and listened for the slightest sound of response.
"Peach!"
Still no answer.
He bounded across broken wood and glass and soon reached the other side of the
house.
"Peach!" "Are you here?!"
He still heard no kind of reply.
He stepped over a crumpled pile of floor rugs and ran through the hallway leading
to her room. He stepped through the doorway and began making his way around every
area of her room in order to find her.
"Peach!" He called again and again.
She was nowhere in sight. He slowed down and regained his breathing; his hands
fumbled around for a button that slipped out one of his overalls. He slid the
hole of the overall over the button and brushed his hair back forcefully. He ran
back towards the couch that he had made his bed to grab his cap. He took one more
look around the room where he
Luigi's jaw dropped. He jolted
over the couch and landed by a pair of feet lying under a pile of wood and stone.
He threw object after object behind him as he dug through to the bottom forming
a cloud of dust around him. Once he had cleared everything away from the area
he stopped himself and stared down at the frail, motionless body that lie on the
floor.
"Oh my gosh." He gasped out loud.
Luigi kneeled down abruptly and stuck his head in his hands.
Peach was laying on the floor unconscious and bleeding.
"No." Luigi let out in dibelief.
"No, no, no!" "NO!" "NOOOO!"
Luigi stood up and kicked the remains of chairs and tables out of his way. His
teeth clenched together, his fists held together tightly, he ran through the house
maddened and alone. He picked up a half-destroyed vase and threw it against a
standing wall. Pieces flew from every angle of the house he ran through, shrapnel
ricocheted off of the walls, his cries being let out in unison to the crashing
sounds of the objects he broke. A dirty, unstoppable rage being driven even farther
by a dark and confused insanity. He fell backwards into a partially crushed bathroom
and began beating the walls around him, harder and harder. Even in the horrible
discomfort and stinging sensation Luigi brought his fists upon the walls relentlessly.
It burned his flesh, he could feel the skin over his knuckles slowly split and
reveal the internal flesh and bone. He had to stop. He had to stop! Luigi fell
sideways, his back curved upwards as he buried his blood stained fists beneath
his arms in despicable pain. His breath stuttered as he lay on the bathroom floor
shivering and crying miserably.
"What's wrong with me?" He blurted.
Luigi was losing his mind.
To be continued...
