King Jingaling sighed and stretched his arms. Today was a beautiful day, perfect in just about every aspect. But then, days were rarely sour in the utopia known as Jinjo Village. At least, they hadn't been since Gruntilda the Witch was defeated by Banjo and Kazooie two years ago. Seeing how the bony crone had been reduced to a mere skull, it looked like the days could only get better.
    Toots squeaked and poked at Jingaling's side, so he reached down and gave his pet a regal pat on the head. "So Toots," Jingaling mused, "whadda ya think of today? It's nice, isn't it?" Toots squeaked excitedly, which gave the king even more confidence. His pet had a sixth sense to danger.
    Unfortunately for the merry monarch, the title of this prologue implies that bliss rarely ever lasts forever. And today wouldn't be Jingaling's day..
