Super
Mario Bros is the most sold videogame of all time. It has sold in
40 million copies! That record has only been beaten by one CD: Santana
who sold in 44 million copies.
In
1993 Nintendo celebrated their 100 millionth sold Mario-game! Just
before the release of Super Mario World 2 the number of sold games
were 117 million! With both Supet Mario World 2, Super Mario RPG
and Super Mario 64 it should be up in nearly 135 - 140 by now!
In
1994 Nintendo celebrate their 1 billionth gamepak sold!
Zelda
1 was the first video game to sell in 1 million copies, if
you don´t count Super Mario Bros since it came bundled
with the NES.
Super
Mario Kart is the most sold Super NES game ever if you don´t
count Super Mario World since it came bundled with the SNES.
The
Donkey Kong arcade machine sold in 65.000 units in America only and if
you count in the two sequels DK Jr., and DK3 100.000 units were sold.
All the Street Fighter 2 arcade machines has only sold in about
50.000 units!

1991 the American video game market renewed 5,3 billion dollars while
the whole movie industry the same year
only renewed 5,0 billion dollars!

smallest SNES games released were only 2 MBit large. They were
Mr. Do!, Sanrio Smashball, Frogger, and Space Invaders
(1994 Japan and Europe only release, the 1997 US release was bigger).
The
Biggest SNES games released were Star Ocean (Japan only) and
Tales of the Phantasim (Japan). They were 48 MBit each!
Last
year (1997) Nintendo´s profit was calculated to around
7.2 billion dollars!
It
took over 10 men 2 whole years to produce Super Mario Bros 3!
The
NES has/had about 90% of the 8-bit market!
