Quick facts:
Mario & friends race against each other in go-carts!

What do Mario and his friends and enemies do on their sparetime?
That question must have appeared in the minds of every true Mario fans... When Super Mario Kart was released we all got the answer to that question:
They race around in go-carts shooting koopashells at each other!
The game features 3 different modes: Grand Prix, Time Trial and last but not least the awesome Battle mode.
In Grand Prix you race against all the other drivers in the different cups: the Mushroom, Star, flower and Special Cup.
In Time trial you race against the clock on the games different courses.
My favorite is, though is Battle Mode. 2 players play head to head. Each player has one kart with three balloons attached to it. You drive around inside an arena and try to hit the other one with Green& Red Shells, Banana skins and other power ups. If your kart gets hit by e.g. a Green Shell you lose one balloon. The one who loses all their balloons first has lost.
The drivers are: Mario, Luigi, Bowser, Donkey Kong Jr, Yoshi, Peach, Toad and Koopa Troopa. The drivers have different abilities. Mario and Luigi are good allround drivers. Toad and Koopa Troopa are a little bit slower than Mario and Luigi but have better cornering. Donkey Kong Jr. and Bowser have the best Top speed of them all but a very sloooow acceleration. Yoshi and Peach have great acceleration but the lowest top -speed. Super Mario Kart is the most sold SNES game ever if you don't count Super Mario World because it came bundled with the SNES.
