Here it is, the Nintendo 64's first true RPG, Paper Mario. This is not only an RPG, but it's also a platformer. This is the sequel to the Super NES hit, Super Mario RPG. This game has 2D characters in a 3D world, which are opposite to the graphics used in Yoshi's Story. The reason the game got it's name is because all the characters are as thin as paper. The graphics may seem kiddy, but it's the gameplay that makes the game fun.

The story of the is that Bowser has stolened a magical artifact called the Star Rod and made himseld invincible with it. He also kidnapped the Princess onced again and has takened her to his castle high in the sky. Mario finds out later that the only way to defeat Bowser and save Peach is to rescue the seven Star Spirits which grant wishes, but they are all scattered in seven different lands. Mario must travel across the land to retrieve the Star Spirits to restore peace to the Mushroom Kingdom.

The graphics are not too bad. The characters are all 2D sprites in a blocky 3D world. The graphics of the characters really bring back the memories of the early NES graphics. The characters act sort of like paper in this game. When the characters turn, they seem to look like paper.

The sounds in this game really fits with Nintendo platformers. The characters don't have voices, because the game was meant to be like a 3D picture book.

Paper Mario is a great game for all Mario and RPG fans alike. I reccommend that you buy this game, sense it's the only true RPG for the N64. It's also a great rental. - Mario500 99%
