Well, I'm back into the games, people, and I'm ready to go. Your own Squire Nomad has returned from his other works to bring you lots of DQ reviews, and a little extra one.
If there was a game that I would chose to be my favorite (with the exception of Final Fantasy V), I would choose Dragon Quest V. The renovated systems of the NES Dragon Quest Era is what made Dragon Quest V a hit for later Super Famicom Dragon Quests. The animation in this is what caused the dramatic battle animation in monsters in Dragon Quest III. Since Dragon Quest V, Enix has added Armor Project, Chunsoft, and Bird Studio, creators of the all-popular Dragon Ball Z in Japan to assist them in creating Dragon Quest games and such. After this game, Dragon Quest I.II (a remake of the games Dragon Warrior I and II, and Dragon Quest I and II) used this system of battle. What I'm saying is, the backgrounds return, and in these two games, it returns with drastic changes. Dragon Quest V finally made the hero a real character, as the others fought for nothing, well, Dragon Quest IV really depended on the supporting characters for that Final Fantasy idea of a plot and actions of characters.

Squire Nomad returns from his laziness in not helping Nintendoland. However, he has finally waken up, and he's got a Dragon Quest game in his hand. This isn't disputed as the best, but I think it should be. This to any other DQ game, or to FF5, either way, this game is tight. A year has passed since I first set interest to this game... I thought it could be a little better here, but, well, my imagination is higher than an early SFC game has. Anyway, after six years of hanging around your dad, you step into some continent, which you'll be spending a long time at if you aren't and RPG master. Your dad has plans that you not fight with him, as he is doing something, what, you don't know yet. Nonetheless, you be the normal kid you are and start playing around, and getting in trouble. |
| Turn off that 64, PlayStation, or Dreamcast, because I see you getting interested. After continuously messing up, you end up helping a dwarf, kid, whom you might marry in the distant future, elves, and you have a baby panther, with four different names you can choose from. Your father decides, after the first two parts, in which he does not know about the elf land, which only children can see, that you should go to Reinhart with him, and meet Henry, the prince, well, one of them, of Reinhart. He's a real pest (according to my knowledge of Japanese, he's real mischievous and spoiled), but when you discover the secret he was sitting on, he gets kidnapped, and you try to chase them, but the ship runs off. A dark day for Reinhart, and that song that you only hear twice in the game comes on. You eventually save him when you find the hideout, but it costs your father's life, the kidnapping of you and Henry, and the outcome of you panther being left there, with your father's sword, which is strong in this part. |

| What happens next? You are taken to a mine to build Grand Temple, so you are a slave, and you have all of your things taken, and you also lose the occupation of "Papas's son". At one point, you find Henry, but some angry supervisors get mad, and you fight them. After that battle, you are jailed, but before that, you remember when you went to sleep and met Maria. |
|
Maria's brother Joshua is a "supervisor" to the slaves. When you are jailed, Joshua let's you and Maria free, into a land south of Reinhart, and nuns pick you up, and heal you, and now you have the occupation of "escaped prisoner". Maria stays at the nunnery, and she becomes a nun, but you and Henry, being men, have to leave, but the nuns bid you a good farewell... Now you can have fun, sonny. |

There is a town north, with a... you guessed it, casino! You also get the wagon in here, and it's no where near the end of the game! Now, you must obtain the Ra Mirror, save Reinhart, Sarabona (not really), get married, and become king of Gravania. Once you collect the two needed rings (you will need the third in the third generation), you can get married to your childhood friend, Bianca, or a new person, Flora. In any event, Henry, who stayed in Reinhart, comes and is excited by the news, and also arranges to marry Maria, but King Dale (his younger brother) is not there. You gain a ship, and head to Gravania, but then your wife, which is your/their new "occupation", falls, and you discover she is pregnant. However, you decide you must make it to Gravania, where she will get taken care of. Ahh, Gravania. You were born in by Papas and Martha, since then, you've never been here. The prime minister took your place, but once you returned, you were king! You proved you were worthy, but not with your wife. When you return, she's... given birth to twins!!! You name your son and your daughter, and you have a party because you've became king, and you've met your father's friend Sancho, from Santa Rose, which was destroyed when you had to neglect Reinhart in the mines. After that, everyone's drunk, and had hangover's, and then one of Gema's henchmen stole your wife, but not your children. You find this guy... |
| You find his tower, and defeat him, but wait, Gema? And this guy Jami? With your wife? You remember now, Jami was the one the weakened your father ten years ago! You have no impact, but your wife turns off the barrier, and now he's easy. He dies, but before he's gone, he stones you and your wife, and explorers come and auction you off. Your wife is in Grand Temple, while you are in a very remote area. Saddening stories, really, but then who breaks off your spell? You daughter!!! She's with your son and Sancho, and they take you back. Now, it's time to discover what's at the finished Grand Temple, and kill Gema and his last henchman. It will be hard, trust me. Don't forget to save Sarabona, and find the Heavenly Castle (Zenithia for you deprived Americans from DW4), and you find two means of transportation: Heavenly Castle, and Master Dragon... That's three air transportation devices! Now, you find the last ring, and enter the Demon World, where you find your mother, and go to Evil Mountain, and kill the main enemy, Mildrars... |

Yeah, it's pretty advanced, and this is the game to get. It is usually around $40, and you can find it without me mentioning stores. Enjoy!!! - Squire Nomad, flirting 96%
