The Secret of Evermore, released by SquareSoft in 1995, is an RPG that’s unlike most of your other common RPGs in that you have only two people in your party at all times: a boy and his dog.

The first major place you start is in Prehistoria. The three other "lands" on the world of "Evermore" are Antiqua, Gothica, and Omnitopia. All of them pose different challenges, and are entirely different from one another, making for a great game in terms of uniqueness. The music is well composed and fits the mood for each scene. The sound effects are great as well. Your second character is a dog, which you can control as well. Your dog changes appearance according to what time period you are in on Evermore. Note that this is SquareSoft’s first totally American-made RPG, so it may be lacking the Japanese touch you’re so used to. All in all, this game is great for beginners and experts alike, and just the raw fantasy of the game should make this one of your instant favorites.

Screenshot As far as the fights go, all are extremely simple if you know what weapons to   use, if your levels are high enough, and if your alchemy spells are strong. There’s not really any "weak spots" with the exception of a few bosses, so all you really have to do is aim with your weapons in the general direction of the enemies.

This feature is similar to Secret of Mana. If you are a novice gamer, it is quite difficult. For an average "RPger", it should have some challenge. If you are an expert, this game is simple for you. - Eric Hoffheiser 80%
