ScreenshotStory/Depth: This game doesn't have much of a storyline, per se, but it does have lots of cool characters. Every one of the boxers has his own unique personality and part of the fun of this game is watching their comments and moves. In that way it differs from other boxing games.

Challenge: I did not find this game as challenging as the original Punch-Out, but it still took some time to get through each one of the boxers. It's really a matter of memorizing their moves and knowing the cues. The more difficult boxers will give shorter cues and will vary their technique much more. In some cases, it was impressive just watching them beat the crap out of me.

Control: If you know the buttons, the control in this game is nice and smooth. If you aren't comfortable yet, you will likely break into some button mashing and will be on the ground before you know it. Give it a chance and the game will offer good control.

Graphics: The graphics for this game are overwhelming. They may not be as superb as, say, Donkey Kong Country, but it's still impressive to look at. You're dwarfed by all of the other boxers and each puts on their little show, which can sometimes break your concentration. Look out, you're about to get squashed!

Sound: The sound effects in this game are one of the great mood-creator's. They'll taunt you and laugh at you and even Screenshotspit at you. Sometimes the sound will even give cues as to their next move. Keep your ears and eyes open.

Innovation: This game lacks any real originality, but I don't think that was really the point. It was able to give SNES players the experience that NES players got with the original punch-out, using the superior hardware to make a superior game. Granted, the characters were all unique and original (except for the ones from the first punch-out) but the actual game-play was almost identical.

Other: Very high replay value. You'll be going back again and again, trying to beat them in as short a time as possible and increase your placing on the charts.

Overall Rating: I might say that I like this game better than Punch-Out for the Nintendo, just because of the improved graphics and sound effects. Everything else that was solid gold in the original is kept in this one. The only thing I crave is a little more challenge. It did not take me very long to beat the game. - Nick Bond 90%
