Well, I took a break from Dragon Quest, and decided to turn on RPG Tsukuuru. I was in
need of making a game, and so I did. I'm not reviewing the game I did, because it was
never released, duh. Anyway, this game carries its ups and downs. Keep on going.

ASCII programmed a test game in, so you could edit that, but, I started from scratch. Now you can make your own SFC RPG, it feels great, doesn't it? The picture to the left is just to show you how progressive I was. You, however, have a limited amount of memory and maps (like 300 maps per type of map), so you'll have to do the Super Mario RPG and SO2 way of things, and have departing events occur in small spaces. In the game, you can do a lot, and create many spells, but it's so difficult to have anything work. They have about 30 different animations for spells, so even though there are about 200 slots for spells, the ratio of animations to spells is not going to be 1:1 (Don't go tell me I'm smart. I'm 13, phew.), it won't be an exact number at all. What's really annoying is not being able to create two worlds, and give them different shades, to reveal the fact that there are two overworlds, or some explosion event happens and the world sinks. You can only stay on the surface. |

Making monsters and putting
them in fields in tedious and takes a long time. You want many enemies in your game, and
you have to map the enemies by each small square. We aren't making a masterpiece, just a
simple game. One good thing, however, is that you can do pallette swaps, and have races of a type of enemy, and save some time for the lazy game maker. Keep in mind that you can have twelve characters as well, and if you want a good story, you might want to have very few. I had nine slots filled, and five good characters. Saved some space in case of improvement. |
| I haven't covered everything yet.
In Dragon Quest you get ships and wagons, but the wagon never workds as a vehicle, but
ships do. You can create three uses of transportation: land vehicle, sea vehicle, and air
vehicle. The land and air vehicles can keep you from fighting, and the sea vehicle can if
you decide against sea monsters. But, what great RPGs have? This game now has some FF concepts. You can save in the overworld, and many other things. You're going to enjoy this game. RPG Tsukuuru has thirty songs, and most aren't smooth, and they aren't good. You have few slots for music input. However, when you make your event map, you can input another song, and that's useful. RPG Tsukuuru can do a lot of events for you, and pack them into one. Indeed a useful thing. You can have someone poisoned during a certain event, or even turn them into frogs. And, from playing FF and DQ IV and V, you know someone's going to die or get taken away. In this game, there is an event that says "Protagonist removal", so you can take people away, or add characters with another event. Great... I'll leave you alone, and show you some works from my game. |
