REVIEW: Super Mario Kart 1992 SNES

What does Mario and his friends and enemies do on their sparetime? They race around in gokarts shooting koopa shells at each other! ...and that´s what tis fab game is all about. Super Mario Kart is pure fun to play and got a last-ability never seen in a game before, I was still playing it, 2 whole years after I first got it! That´s why I give it 98%! If you going to own just one SNESgame then this is the one!

You can choose from playing as Mario, Luigi, Bowser, Dk jr, Yoshi, Peach, Toad or Koopa Troopa. The drivers have different abilities. Mario and Luigi is good allround drivers. Toad and Koopa Troopa is a little bit slower than Mario and Luigi but has better cornering.Dk jr. and Bowser has the best top speed of them all but a very sloooow acceleration. Yoshi and Peach has great acceleration but the lowest top speed. The game features 4 different modes: Grand Prix, Time Trial, Match Race and last but not least, Shigeru Miyamoto´s own favourite, the awesome Battlemode! In Grand Prix that can be played both alone and against a friend, you race against all the other drivers in cups the Mushroom, Star, Flower and Special cups. In Time Trial you race against the clock on the games 20 different courses. My favourite is Battle Mode where you play 2 players, head to head. Each player has three balloons attached to their karts. Then you drive around inside an arena and tries to hit the other one with green shells, bananas, homing shells and other things. If your kart gets hit by shell or something it loses one balloon. And the one that loses all their balloons first loses. It´s the Battle mode that really makes this game something really extra. You never gets tired of battling with your mates in Battle mode. SMK is truly the perfect game, if you´re two or more that is. If you play it alone you´ll still have fun with it a time with beating your Time Trial-times, but when you get tired of that the fun is over. What a great game! It might seem to be that the first time you play it but the more you master the kart the more you love playing. At first you may think Mario or Luigi is the best drivers and that Bowser is totally unplayable. You also probably drives 'round the courses with a lot of brake-hitting and think that the turns is too narrow. That is before you learn the Power-sliding technique! With this you can take almost EVERY corner without braking even with the clumsy Bowser, but it takes a long time to master. If you planning to win the Special Cup in the 150 cc class you really must be an ace driver. Thus, Super Mario Kart is a very, very good one player game in my opinion.

Then we come to the two player mode... If you have a mate to play with, this game becames the BEST game you can play on the SNES! It's so fun shooting shells and banana skins at eachother both in Grand Prix mode and in Battle mode. You can vary the playing so much -a game in Super Mario Kart never is the same. - Marcus 98%
