OVERVIEW
Mario stars in his RPG in the highly anticipated, "Super Mario
RPG." Mario RPG was created by proven power houses Nintendo and Squaresoft.
They created a jaw dropping game that blends a nice mix of outright humor and
incredible story that will keep you playing this game for weeks!
THE STORY
Super Mario RPG starts off just like any other Mario game you can think
of, Princess Toadstool gets captured by Bowser and Mario has to go out
and save her. So, when Mario goes and saves Princess Toadstool after a
short duel with Bowser, Smithy, a gigantic sword overtakes the castle
and sends the three characters off in different directions. And, thus,
this great game begins. Along the way you will meet various characters
and pick up some helpful sidekicks along the way (one of which will
suprise you). Besides the regular plot there are a couple of sidegames
that you can complete, but are not needed to win the game.
THE GRAPHICS

The Graphics in this game are simply unprecedented in a SNES RPG Game. Super
Mario RPG could easily pass as a Playstation of N64 game. The graphics are comparable
to any of the Donkey Kongs, but you move all over the place instead of just
being able to move back and forth and up and down. The Graphics make up for
what is an easy game. Mario and his sidekicks move fluidly and crisply. The
battle scene backgrounds are astonishing and even the simplest of enemies will
leave you in awe.
THE MUSIC
The music in Mario RPG has most of the same tracks that the rest of the Mario's had. In addition they added a couple of new tracks that add to the great music in this game. The music does not get repetitive at all and gives the right mood, whether it be happy, sad, or humorous. I thought the music served its purpose to set the mood very well.
GAMEPLAY
The Gameplay is great! Every action has its own button and there is no delayed
or frozen movements by any of your characters. The gameplay is not sloppy and
seems to just glide along as you play (if that makes any sense). Even in the
battle scenes the actions are also easy to select. You don't have to go through
various screens to get to what you want. Most the times you just press one button
and your action is selected. This feature is very helpful and cuts down on the
frustration level. The combination of great graphics and gameplay make this
game enjoyable. DIFFICULTY
Sorrily this game was not very hard at all. This aspect is the only downfall in this game. This game has enough difficulty and side games to keep even the expert gamer interested, but don't think this game will take over a week of so to beat if you are good. Super Mario RPG was my first RPG, so I thought the game was pretty hard the first time I played it. I was lucky. But, as soon as you get better than a beginner, this game will present no problem at all.
REPLAYABILITY

The replayability in this game is average at best. There is only one ending
and there is no Game Plus(like in Chrono Trigger), but there is so many things
to try and find in Mario RPG that if you want to find everything and beat everything
without a walkthrough you probably have to go through this game at least twice.
I love this game and have only took the time to beat it three times.
PRICE/VALUE
I purchased Super Mario RPG when if first came out for the full price of $59.99 and thought the purchase was well worth it. You can get this game used for about $30 and would be a good deal to purchase. Super Mario RPG is a great game and is one of the top ten games on the SNES, it is a MUST for all - Tim Martin 95%
