Hero's Dawn

By: Nathan Paul

The ‘noon transforms into golden dusk
As another day goes down in the West
The Sun takes respite from his heavenly vigil and
The grey Moon rises to her glowing nightly shift
Veiling the land in
The coolness of a Summer’s evening

A soft chill breeze blows through the Night
Stealing swiftly ‘cross
The width and breadth of the Field

Toward the crystal waters of
The great Lake it ventures
Shifting the reeds and
Stirring the sapphire glass
A lone Zora surfaces and
Basks in the Wind’s sweet caress

Now it journeys up
The river to
The great desert Valley

Up and out of the canyon it goes and
Sets its course for
The wilderness Fortress
Where the band of women Thieves dwells
It tugs at a guard’s golden adornments and
Tousles her auburn hair

To the Field again it goes
Now heading east towards
The verdant forbidden Forest

It plays in the Great Tree’s Meadow with
The will-o-the-wisps ‘neath
The slowly fading Stars as
The first Light approaches
It blows into the hidden Village
In through the window of one Boy’s home
The boy without a Fairy

Asleep just a boy
But soon to awaken as a Hero
In the glorious crimson Dawn…
