Prologue
The fires broke out
And a Hylian mother fled.
The Gerudos were quick,
But the Hylian was faster.
Even so, a Gerudo managed to shoot an arrow
And to find its mark.
Exhausted and injured,
The Hylian entered the forest.
In her last breath,
She asked the Great Deku Tree
To look after her son,
Her Link.
As the mother passed away,
The tree sensed something special in the boy.
He called forth a Kokiri,
The wise and maternal Saria,
And ordered her to look after the boy,
Never to mention this day again.
The First Test
Ten years later,
The Great Deku Tree ordered the fairy, Navi,
To bring Link to him
With sword and shield.
Navi did so as speedily as she could.
The tree instructed Link to enter it
And rid it of an evil curse.
Link anxiously did as he was told
And entered the gigantic trunk.
He searched the tree
For the cause of the evil.
In the roots of the tree
Was the Parasitic Armored Arachnid,
Gohma.
The battle was difficult,
But Link won over the monstrous spider.
When he emerged from the tree,
He was told of Hyrule’s creation.
In the Great Deku Tree’s dying breath,
He told Link to find Princess Zelda
And he gave Link the Kokiri Emerald,
The Sacred Stone of the Forest.
The Goron Ruby
The farewell was hard,
But Saria had to let Link go.
He ventured off through Hyrule Field
Towards the castle.
Getting past the guards were hard,
But Link persevered.
In a short time Link and Zelda met.
Zelda explained all she knew
And showed Link the Evil King,
The Gerudo, Ganondorf Dragmire.
There they hatched a plan
To save the land of Hyrule.
Zelda instructed Link to look for
The last two Spiritual Stones.
Zelda’s guardian, Impa,
Led Link out of the castle,
And directed him to Kakariko Village
And the mountain beyond.
Link scaled Death Mountain
All the way to Goron City.
There he offered his assistance
To Darunia, the troubled Goron leader.
Darunia sent Link to Dodongo’s Cavern
To root out the Dodongos.
Link searched the hot cave
For its evil source.
At last he found the Infernal Dinosaur,
King Dodongo.
The battle was harder,
But Link was victorious once again.
At the cavern entrance,
Darunia presented to Link
The Goron Ruby,
The Sacred Stone of Fire.
The Last Stone
Link set out for his second destination,
The Zora River.
Behind the waterfall he found
The Domain of the Zoras.
He discovered that the Zora Princess was missing.
Then he found a letter
Explaining where she was.
He presented this to the king
And gained entrance to Jabu-Jabu,
The Zora’s sacred whale.
In the stomach he did find
The Princess Ruto.
Together they found the last Stone.
But Ruto was taken as she took it.
Link fought the monster that came
And slay it in a short time.
He knew his quest was not yet done,
So he searched even farther
In the whale’s gut.
At last he found
The Bio-electric Anemone,
Barinade.
The battle was made hard
By the monster’s electricity,
But Link proved his courage again.
Outside the fish,
Ruto gave Link her Stone,
Thinking it was an engagement ring,
But Link knew it was the last Stone,
The Zora Sapphire,
The Sacred Stone of Water.
The Real Quest Begins
Link hurried back as fast as he could
To Hyrule Castle.
As he approached the town wall,
It grew dark as night.
He jumped back as a horse quickly came.
On it was Zelda and Impa.
Zelda threw something blue back,
Which landed in the moat.
Then a dark horse appeared
And on it was Ganondorf.
Link drew his sword,
Ready to do battle,
But Ganondorf laughed
And knocked Link off his feet.
He gave chase after Zelda,
Leaving Link unscathed.
Link got up and remembered
What Zelda threw.
He dived in and retrieved a blue ocarina.
Then Zelda contacted him telepathically
And informed Link the instrument he held
Was the Ocarina of Time.
With the Spiritual Stones and the Ocarina,
Link could gain access to the sacred sword,
The Master Sword.
Zelda taught Link the Song of Time
And left him with what he must do.
Link went to the Temple of Time
And opened the door.
He drew the Master Sword
From the Pedestal of Time.
The door to the Sacred Realm now was open
And Ganondorf now could enter,
For he hid from Link and followed him.
Ganondorf entered the Sacred Realm
And touched the Triforce,
Symbol of Power,
Courage,
And Wisdom.
In a flash so brilliant,
The Triforce fragmented into three,
Leaving Ganondorf only with Power.
He returned to Hyrule
And conquered the land,
Unopposed by any.
The Coming of the Hero
As for Link, he was in sleep
For seven long years.
When he awoke, Rauru,
The Sage of Light,
Told Link of what Ganondorf did
And what he must do.
He gave Link the Light Medallion
And sent him on his way.
In the Temple of Time,
Link met the Sheikah Sheik.
Sheik instructed Link to find the temples five,
Forest,
Fire,
Water,
Shadow,
And Spirit.
In a flash, he disappeared.
Link was in shock
When he saw the Market.
It was in shambles
And Ganondorf’s minions
Were all over.
He quickly struck them down and left.
Link returned to Kokiri Forest
And saw it overrun with monsters.
He navigated the Lost Woods
And found the Ancient Temple of the Forest.
He entered through the crumbling portal
And saw half of the evil,
The Poe Sisters four,
Joelle,
Beth,
Amy,
And Meg.
Link searched the temple
And cleansed it of the ghosts.
Now he could descend to the basement
To face the Evil Spirit from Beyond,
Phantom Ganondorf.
This was Link’s hardest fight yet,
But he sent the phantom back to whence he came.
Back in the Sacred Realm,
Link discovered Saria was
The Sage of Forest.
After a short talk,
Saria directed Link back to the Gorons.
She then gave him part of her power,
The Forest Medallion.
Into the Fire
Link was transported
Right to the Great Deku Tree,
But now it was the Deku Sprout.
It told Link of his origin
And sent him on his way.
Link scaled Death Mountain again
And re-entered Goron City.
It was deserted except for a lonely Goron.
Link stopped it and asked where everyone was.
Darunia had left for the Fire Temple
To save the Gorons from sacrifice.
The Goron told Link a shortcut
And Link went after the leader.
He caught up with him in the temple,
Where they then split up.
Link fought his way to the top,
And there he found the Megaton Hammer.
He returned to where he met Darunia
And entered the door.
The Subterranean Lava Dragon,
Volvagia,
Was ready for him.
Link fought hard
And won again.
In the Sacred Realm
Link saw that Darunia was
The Sage of Fire.
Darunia told Link to try Lake Hylia.
Before Link departed
Darunia gave him the second medallion,
The Fire Medallion.
The Water Temple
Link traveled across Hyrule Field,
Finally coming to Lake Hylia.
Unsure how to enter the temple,
He went to Zora’s Domain to seek help,
But it was frozen over.
Jabu-Jabu had gone
And icebergs took his place.
Link saw a cave and went over to it.
In it he found a mysterious blue fire
And the Iron Boots.
He unfroze the Zoran King
And learned how to gain entry to the Water Temple.
Link received a tunic to help him breathe
Under the icy waters.
He returned to Lake Hylia
And entered the underwater edifice.
In it he found an older Ruto.
After a short rebuke,
She led him up, where she disappeared.
Link explored the temple in search of her
And instead found the Giant Aquatic Amoeba,
Morpha.
In his easiest battle,
He pulled it out of its gel
And slashed it in two.
Back in the Sacred Realm,
He discovered the Sage of Water
Was none other than Princess Ruto.
She pointed him to Kakariko
And gave Link a part of her power,
The Water Medallion.
The Shadows
Link returned to Kakariko,
Only to find it in flames.
He found Sheik and questioned him.
Sheik informed Link of an evil beast
Deep in the depth of the well.
At that moment, something shot out,
And Link and Sheik were knocked unconscious.
When Link came around,
Sheik told him to retrieve
The Lens of Truth,
But to do so,
Link would have to return to his childhood.
By replacing the Master Sword
In its pedestal,
Link did find he could jump back seven years.
On his return to Kakariko
He drained the village’s well.
In its depths was the item he needed.
Back in the future,
Link hurried to the Shadow Temple.
With the handy lens,
He could safely explore the temple
And avoid all traps, hidden with illusions.
In the subterranean edifice,
Was the Phantom Shadow Beast,
Bongo Bongo.
After a difficult battle,
Link was sent to the Sacred Realm.
Impa was waiting
As the Sage of Shadows
To tell Link to go to Gerudo Valley
And to aid him with
The Shadow Medallion.
The Spirit of the Gerudos
The bridge going into the Valley of the Gerudos
Was broken,
But Link was able to cross anyways.
On his way to the next temple
He was caught by a Gerudo
And thrown into a cell.
Needless to say,
Link escaped.
He freed four carpenters,
And the Gerudo in charge was impressed.
Letting him go where he please,
She directed him to the Spirit Temple.
After facing the challenges in the Haunted Wasteland,
He came to the Desert Colossus.
However, he was unable to proceed.
Sheik came by and told Link
He would need to go back seven years once again.
So Link did and came back as a child.
Inside he met Nabooru,
The second-in-charge after Ganondorf.
Despising him, she sent Link to look for an item for her.
Link found it outside
High in the air.
And while he was up there,
He saw Nabooru being kidnapped.
With no choice,
Link came back as an adult
To continue his exploration.
In the back of the temple
Were the Sorceress Sisters,
Koume and Kotake.
After a few hits taken,
They formed into the vile Twinrova.
And once Link had defeated her,
The twins broke apart and bickered
As they left behind the world.
In the Sacred Realm
Nabooru was revealed to be
The Sage of Spirit.
There Link received
The Spirit Medallion.
The Final Battle
Rauru directed Link to go to the Temple of Time
To meet a long time friend.
Sheik was there waiting for him.
He revealed to Link that he wasn’t Sheik at all,
But rather the Princess Zelda
And the Seventh Sage.
She gave Link the knowledge of the Light Arrow.
Then Ganondorf kidnapped her
And dared Link to follow.
Link went to Ganondorf’s Castle
And cleared the barriers
Protecting the central tower.
At its top he found
The King of Evil,
Ganondorf.
After a long and arduous fight,
Ganondorf fell in defeat.
Zelda was freed,
And together she and Link ran down
The crumbling tower.
When the dust cleared,
A sound was heard,
So Link went to investigate.
A ring of fire formed
And out of the rubble
Rose Ganondorf.
In a blinding transformation,
He turned into the horrible beast,
Ganon.
Devoid of a sword,
Link shot Ganon to the ground.
As soon as the fire died down,
Link rushed to the Master Sword.
He hurried to finish the job.
Zelda bound him to the ground.
Link delivered the final blow,
And the Seven Sages sealed Ganon in the Sacred Realm,
To now be called the Dark World.
Epilogue
Zelda apologized for the trouble’s Link faced.
And sent him seven years back
To his childhood.
Link returned the Master Sword
And closed Time’s Door.
He visited Zelda to return
The Ocarina of Time.
The Lens of Truth he also gave back
Along with the gauntlets
Nabooru had him get.
He went back to Kokiri Forest
And told Saria of his adventure.
Navi, however, left and was never again seen,
Either by Link or the Kokiris.
The Spiritual Stones found new owners
And were forgotten.
The actions of Link soon became
The Legend of Zelda.
