The
New Look
Well,
I've seen the new videos, and I've heard all the complaints. Recently,
at Spaceworld, Nintendo showed a clip of their newest Zelda for
the Gamecube. Link looks somewhat cartoony and, many say, too
childish. You can imagine the uproar this caused. People are sending
e-mails, even large petitions in an attempt to persuade Nintendo
to do something to stop this. I personally have been approached
more than once to voice my own hatred for the new look. I have
promptly refused. Who would ask me to do such a thing! For cryin'
out loud! I come here and I write. I write thousands and thousands
of words on what makes a great game! GAMEPLAY AND DIFFICULTY!
That is all! What have I said about graphics? They don't matter!
At all! Graphics mean nothing to a game. I hardly notice them
when I play a game now. Y'know what I've been playing for the
last few weeks? I've been playing DOS games. These are games from
the 80's and before! I've been playing with tiny stick figures
on a black and white screen! And I've been loving it! I keep telling
you people that graphics don't matter, and I keep hearing about
how right I am. If so many of you agree with me that graphics
are meaningless, why do you get so enraged when the game has cartoony
graphics? I'm not joking when I get up here and tell thousands
of people every day that I don't give one iota for the look of
a game. I'm not lying. I mean it to the fullest. I for one, eagerly
await this new Zelda. I, for one, am thoroughly disgusted by the
actions of the Zelda community.
